The Harley-Davidson began to became known when William Harley and Arthur Davidson produced last 1903 the first development of motorcycle. The motorbike was created in a little shed wooden with the name Harley-Davidson Motor company on the front door and had become the racing bike. Harley-Davidson was victorious with the first race in 1905 and recruited thier first personnel. After 3 years, they sold to the Detroit Police department their first motorcycles which was used as a police service. They became flourishing that they are able to construct a 6 story factory building and started to export their motorcycles to the Japan.
1914 marks the year H-D technically goes in itself into the national racing circuit, and is fairly quickly known as “The Wrecking Crew” for it’s dominance in the racing industry. By 1917 one-third of all motorcycles manufactured would be sold to the military, and had also been the start of the Service School for Harley-Davidson Mechanics, for both military and civilian bikes.
Half of the bikes in 1918 were brought to Military service of World War 1 and it was Roy Holtz the first soldier have ridden the H-D Motorcycle in Germany. 1920 signifies the year that the motorcycle company is the biggest in the world in the motorcycle industry, and has over 2,000 dealers in 67 countries worldwide.
1931 is the year that almost all of Harley’s competitors are gone, with the exception of the Indian Motorcycle Company. These two companies were the only remaining motocrycle companies in United States until 1953.
For the reason that world gets into into World War 2, so does Harley turn back into Military motorcycle development, and the service school is turned back to the military motorcycle service school, also called the Quartermaster School for military mechanics. This was the very time that the public had a hard time to obtain their hands on a H-D Motorcycle.
